V. NEA General RA Issues—there will be brief discussions of each of these items with no action taken during the meeting.
A. 2011 Endorsement of Barack Obamahttps://dennis2delegates.groupsite.com/discussion/topic/show/461346.html?lastpost=1&lpx=1&page=8
Yes, Jane - I do read these and love doing so. I'm pleased that so many delegates are taking advantage of this opportunity to discuss the issues - the diversity of opinion and arguments is refreshing. I was a bit taken back by the coment that "we've been sold out by our NEA leadership (I'm talking about Dennis Van Roekel) re the testing and accountability." NEA has members in 24 states that are dealing directly with legislation on the role of testing, evaluation, and accountability. These members and affiliates have asked NEA to lead the discussion and provide information, frameworks, and alternatives to the horrible legislation being forced on our members - and NEA has responded with a proposed Policy Statement. I'm proud of the work of the group that drafted the Policy Statement and I look forward to the debate at the RA.
B. Legislative Crisis Fund Proposal
C. NEA Policy Statement on Teacher Evaluation & Accountability (Attachments 612.14 & 612.15)
D. ESEA Reauthorization & Legislative Issueshttp://www.nea.org/home/19449.htm
E. NEA Candidate Endorsements (Attachment 612.16)
