NEA FAC Meeting Minutes - WED, July 4, LUNCH BREAK
Convention Center Room 147B

I.       Call to order. Meeting was called to order at 1:35pm, texting update, meeting procedures and protocols were discussed by Chair, Tom McLaughlin (IA).   24 RA delegates were in attendance.

II.    Adoption of Agenda--(Fitzwater, Moved Dinneno, Seconded PASSED)

III. Adoption Minutes (07/03 - Woodman/Fitzwater PASSED) (07/04 AM - Fry/Gary PASSED)

IV.NBI #36 - “STEM to STEAM” Modifications have been made to this NBI.   NBI comes up onto the floor after Lunch Break.   Mic are all covered.  Speakers are 1. Meikel (CO); Lemmo (PA); Fitzwater (MD) yielding to Johnson (CA); McLaughlin (IA); Turici (PA)  $18,398.00 is the new cost.  The modification save over $150,000.00.  Note the word "reframe/reframing" was responsible for the additional $150,000.00 in cost.  Discussions with Michael McPherson, NEA CFO gleaned this costing information from us.

V.    Nominations for Officers/Executive

A.       Responsibilities of officers and executive board committee were outlined and include: working the booth at each year's RA; posting information to the blog on a monthly basis; participating in the online/email collaboration, surveys, etc; posting to the NEA FAC Blog at http://www.neafineartscaucus.blogspot.com, attending phone/video conference calls of the executive committee (on a monthly basis in the past).  The chair and treasurer are to be elected on even numbered years.  The vice-chair and secretary are to be elected on even numbered years. 

B.    The gavel was given to Vice-Chair Turici nominations of chair.Chair--(Two year term 7/6/2012-RA adjournment 7/2014)
1. Tom McLaughlin (IA) nominated. [(Turici (PA)/Gibberman (CA)]
      2. Motion to cease nominations. [(Sommers (NV)/DiNenno (PA) PASSED]Tom McLaughlin (IA) was declared by acclamation to be elected chair for 7/2012-2014.

C.   The gavel was returned to Tom McLaughlin for nominations of vice-chair.
Vice-Chair--(One year term 7/6/2012-RA adjournment 7/2013)

      This position becomes a one-year position to correct changes made in the Constitution/Bylaws/Operating Procedures that stagger officer terms.
Nominations/Candidates

            1.  Jessica Fitzwater (MD) nominated. [McLaughlin (IA)/Woodman (WA)]
            2.  Debbie Turici (PA) nominated. [Dinneno (PA)/Fry (PA)]  Debbie Turici declined
            the nomination as she in unsure that she will be in attendance at RA 2013, she plans
            on retiring soon, she plans on remaining active and believes that good leaders
            prepare/groom other leaders.
            3.  Motion to cease nominations. [(Gibberman (CA)/Zamora (NV) PASSED]
            Jessica Fitzwater (MD) was declared by acclamation to be elected vice-chair for 7/2012-            7/2013 RA adjournment)

D. The gavel was returned to Deb Turici for nominations of treasurer.
     Treasurer--(Two year term 7/6/2012-RA adjournment 7/2014)

            1. Oscar Forsman (IL) nominated [(McLaughlin (IA)/Gibberman (CA)]

            2. Motion to cease nominations. [(McLaughlin (IA)/Gibberman (CA)
            Oscar Forsman (IL) was declared by acclamation to be elected vice-chair for
            7/6/2012-7/2014 RA Adjournment)

E.    Music Representatives to the NEA FAC Executive Board. 

            1.  Pamela Gibberman (CA) was nominated.   [Gibberman (CA)/Fox (CA)]
            2.  Dan Caruso (MA) was nominated. [Turici (PA)/Dinneno (PA)]
            3.  Sheryl Tomzcuk (TX) was nominated. [Tomzcuk (TX)/Ramirez (TX)]
            4.  Motion to cease nominations. [Woodman (WA)/Highlander, PASSED]
            Elections for this position will be held in the NEA Cafe and the Fine Arts Caucus Booth
            from 11:00 am to 1:50 PM on Thursday, July 5, 2012.  Those voting will need a
            ribbon, or a  membership card and all voting will need to sign in prior to voting.

F. Visual Arts Representaives to the NEA FAC Executive Board.
1.  Carlos Meikel (CO) was nominated. [Fitzwater (MD)/DiNenno (PA)]

            2.  Kathy Zamora (NV) was nominated [Zamora (NV)/Caruso (MA)]
            Kathy Zamora withrdrew her name for consideration without objection.
            3.  Sue Lemmo (PA) was nominated. [Turici (PA)/Fry (PA)].
            4.  Motion to cease Nominations [Fitzwater (MD)/Woodman (WA), PASSED]
            Carlos Meikel (CO) and Sue Lemmo (PA) were declared by acclamation to be elected to
            the NEA Fine Arts Caucus Executive Board representing visual arts for 2012-2013.

G.   Dance Representaives to the NEA FAC Executive Board.1.  Ginger Fox (CA) was nominated  [Gibberman (CA)/Meikel (CO)]
      2.  Michael Gary (NJ) was nominated  [McLaughlin (IA)/Rowe (IN)]

            3.  Motion to cease nominations. [Fitzwater (MA)/Woodman (WA), PASSED]
            Ginger Fox (CA) and Michael Gary (IN) were declared by acclamation to be elected to
            the NEA Fine Arts Caucus Executive Board representing visual arts for 2012-2013.

H.     Drama Representatives to the NEA FAC Executive Board.

             1.  Carol Woodman (WA) was nominated. [Woodman (WA)/Meikel (CO)].
             2.  Dawn Moretz (NC) was nominated.  [Moretz (NC), McLaughlin (IA)
             3.  Motion to cease Nominations [Fitzwater (MD)/Woodman (WA), PASSED].
             Carol Woodman (WA) and Dawn Moretz (NC) were declared by acclamation to be 
             elected to the NEA Fine Arts Caucus Executive Board representing drama for 2012-
             2013.
